Many provinces of Turkey in this region were damaged in the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, which were felt in Southeast Anatolia and Mediterranean provinces. So much so that Gaziantep’s Nurdağı district is among the places that suffered the most damage. Osman Bilgin, the governor of Gaziantep, announced that they took the first decision together with Nurdağı, one of the districts, due to the insufficient repair and strengthening activities.

It has been announced that earthquake victims whose identity cards are lost during or after the earthquake can renew it free of charge.

According to this decision announced by the governor, one hundred percent of Gaziantep Nurdağı will be completely demolished and the district will be completely rebuilt with the joint decision taken with the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Bilgin Nurdağı, who stated that since the earthquake, the debris removal and search and rescue efforts are still continuing, said:

“The disaster we are experiencing is huge. We took the decision of Nurdağı district with our minister. We are removing the district with the Minister of Environment and Urbanization Murat Kurum, we are demolishing it completely, one hundred percent. We have a building with 150 bodies coming out of an apartment. It will be rebuilt.”
