Recep Tayyip Erdogan was elected President!

The second round of the 2023 Presidential Elections, which all of Turkey has been eagerly waiting for, finally took place today. Millions of citizens voted. In line with the results announced by the YSK (Supreme Election Board) in the minutes passed after the vote counting process, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan became the 12th President of Turkey.

The 14 May Presidential Election, which is seen as Turkey’s most critical election, was postponed to the second round, 28 May, as the candidates could not pass the 50 percent threshold. According to the information shared by the YSK (Supreme Election Board), a total of 55 million 833 thousand 153 voters voted in the first round.

In the first round, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received the votes of 49.5 percent of the public. President of the Republican People’s Party Kemal Kilicdaroglu whereas 24 million 568 thousand 196 by vote 44.89 percent percentage of votes. Thus, both candidates qualified for the second round.

According to the information shared by the YSK (Supreme Election Board), in the second round held today in Turkey, the total 64 million 197 thousand 419 citizens voted. Main Opposition Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, 25 million 260 thousand 109 votes (48.09 percent) took.

The current President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in total 27 million 513 thousand 587 (51.91 percent) vote and thus he was elected as the 12th President of Turkey. Erdogan will remain in office.

According to the information shared by the YSK (Supreme Election Board) People’s Alliance, 323 MPs brought it into parliament. from the Nation Alliance 212 Members of Parliament entered parliament. Labor and Freedom Alliance whereas 65 MPs brought it into parliament.
