Greven In the fight against the truck driver shortage and climate change, the Greven-based forwarding company Fiege is increasingly relying on the rails. For the customer Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof, for example, the Münsterländer transport large volumes by rail from the central warehouse in Unna to various regions of Germany. Deliveries are made with mobile truck bodies, so-called swap bodies.
The concept is to be expanded, announced CEO Jens Fiege in an interview with the Handelsblatt. “To do this, we are trying to win over more and more dealers and other customers in Germany.” In order to improve their carbon footprint, they use their own sidings. The rail is also used to counter bottlenecks among truck drivers.
