In 2021, PolyNetwork was hacked, stealing more than $600 million, the biggest theft in DeFi history, but the hackers later returned the funds.

Metis also released a statement on the subject:

“Concerning newly minted BNB and BUSD in Metis, there is no selling liquidity. All funds in Metis Andromeda are safe.

We are aware of the ongoing situation of Polybridge and are currently in contact with the PolyNetwork team to minimize the impact of the attack and further assess the situation.”

Cryptocurrency Yu Xian, founder of security company SlowMist, also said there is no need to worry, as the $4.2 billion worth of assets stolen by hackers are mostly “empty” and will not become real assets.

The CEO of Binance also made a statement on the subject. Changpeng Zhao stated that the attack did not affect Binance users and that the platform does not support deposits from the hacked network.
