Solana Network Problem During Update

In the latest statement made by the developers, the reasons for the massive slowdown in the SOL network were addressed:

“A coordinated reboot is in progress to fix an issue that caused block termination to slow down significantly during upgrade from 1.13 to 1.14.”

The Solana developers then reported that the network was restarted in their statement in the morning:

“About 15 minutes ago, the Solana community successfully restarted the cluster, our engineers will continue to monitor network performance as network operators return.”

One of the leading theories was that a “big block” broke the mechanics of the blockchain. The network was upgrading to an updated version shortly before the problems started.

According to Austin Federa, director of strategy and communications at the Solana Foundation, a nonprofit that helps support the SOL blockchain, issues encountered during the upgrade put the blockchain in “vote-only” mode.

Solana is advocated as an “Ethereum killer” by its supporters as it offers lower transaction costs and higher transaction speeds.
