Frankfurt Eight billion people – the world population exceeded this threshold at the end of last year. This was preceded by growth at a remarkable rate, which is now slowing down somewhat. And yet the upward trend is unbroken.

The development is explosive: The increasing demand for food and agricultural goods in the coming years will meet a decreasing supply of available cultivable land. This is also due to climate change, which in many areas of the world no longer allows any or no efficient management.
