OpenAI expands AI functions and significantly lowers prices

san francisco The race for supremacy in artificial intelligence (AI) is intensifying. Only hours after the Facebook group Meta announced a new AI model, the San Francisco start-up OpenAI followed suit. The company’s existing models would be improved, more complicated requests to the systems would be made possible for the first time and prices would be reduced by up to 75 percent, OpenAI announced on Tuesday.

OpenAI triggered a hype about AI applications with the introduction of the text robot ChatGPT. The systems called “generative AI” are able to produce texts, images and music. The technology could result in annual efficiency gains of $2.6 trillion to $4.4 trillion worldwide, the McKinsey Global Institute predicted in a study presented on Wednesday. “We see enormous advantages through AI,” said Michael Chui, head of the study, to the Handelsblatt.
