Berlin The Greens politician Omid Nouripour considers the investigations by the judiciary against the Federal Executive Committee of the Greens because of special payments to be justified: “The judiciary is doing its job. That’s clear,” said the foreign politician, who is applying for the Green Party leadership together with Ricarda Lang, to the Handelsblatt. The political price had already been paid during the election campaign and the money had long since been repaid. “Now the issue will finally be clarified legally.”

Nouripour described the last federal election campaign as “new territory for the party”. Mistakes happened, even with an office that could not keep up with the speed at which tasks and membership numbers had grown. “But now it’s time to deal with it. Not in finger pointing, but as a lesson for the future.”

Regarding changing the structures within the party, Nouripour said that “this will not be a task that we spend the legislature on”. The party will reorganize itself by the end of the year.
