Dusseldorf While the supposed trend towards dual leadership is still being discussed elsewhere, Wolfsburg is already one step further. There, a man shoulders two Dax heavyweights as CEO of Porsche and Volkswagen. There had been rumors about this for a long time, but it certainly caused a surprise when the successful Porsche CEO Oliver Blume was also appointed CEO of VW.
Who is this man who is supposed to lead two DAX companies into a bright future in times of great transformation? And why is he risking his own success with the double function?
Volkswagen is practically a home game for Blume. Born in Braunschweig in 1968, he studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University there. After completing his doctorate at the University of Shanghai, Blume was an assistant to the board of directors in Audi production, division manager at Audi, Seat and VW and was promoted to the board of directors at Porsche in 2013, which he has chaired since 2015.
