Turkey’s new internet domain name “http://a.tr” was introduced. This type of extension, which will be managed by TRABİS (TR Network Information System), will now enable websites and online services to be accessed more easily and with shorter addresses.
Currently, the extension provided for Türkiye is “com.tr”. However, the “.tr” extension can be used with the new domain name. For example, short and special domain names such as “http://fatih.tr” will take their place in the internet world.
The domain names to be given by TRABİS include “a.gov.tr”, “a.edu.tr”, “a.tsk.tr”, “a.bel.tr”, “a.pol.tr”, “a.k12”. .tr” and more.
It was stated that the new “.tr” extension has entered the testing process as of September 13, but it is not possible to make individual and institutional allocations in the first period. After the tests are completed, sites with “com.tr” extension will be transitioned to the “a.tr” system.
Speaking on the subject, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Ömer Fati̇h Sayan said that the new domain name will play an important role in Turkey’s digital transformation. He also stated that it will increase our country’s global competitiveness.
