The developer of the new token is ApeCoin DAO and cryptocoin.com As we have also reported, it is separate from Yuga Labs, which is behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club. BAYC NFT holders will be able to claim around 10,000 ApeCoins each, but the soon-to-be-launched 1 billion ApeCoin tokens will also be distributed among a number of different parties. According to the ApeCoin DAO website, 62 percent of the total supply will be added to an ecosystem fund, 14 percent will be given to “launch contributors,” 9.75 percent of the tokens will go to Yuga Labs, the creators of BAYC.
8 percent will go directly to the Yuga Labs founders. The remaining 6.25 percent will be donated to the Jane Goodall Foundation, a charity dedicated to preserving chimpanzees’ habitats. While the token itself technically remains separate from Yuga Labs, the firm is poised to adopt ApeCoin as the “primary token for all new products and services” emerging from Yuga Labs. According to Yuga Labs, this includes the as-yet-unreleased, win-to-play Blockchain game that the Yuga Labs team plans to release later this year in conjunction with game developer nWay.

ApeCoin will be used in the upcoming play-to-win game Benji Bananas, a game by Hong Kong-based blockchain gaming company Animoca Brands, which also owns nWay. Animoca Brands co-founder and ApeCoin DAO board member Yat Siu said that ApeCoin is a step forward in the advancement of NFTs. He stated that ApeCoin is poised to become “the Dogecoin of NFTs where the use case is created and valued by the community”. According to the official website, ApeCoin will be available for purchase on all major exchanges.
