Payments company Block is running a recruitment campaign to set up its Bitcoin mining and wallet hardware businesses.

Block Opens Multiple New Job Postings in Bitcoin Mining and Wallet

According to various job postings posted on LinkedIn in the past two weeks, the company is hiring Bitcoin mining policy, communications and partnerships executives.

In a job posting for “test center supervisor” posted on LinkedIn on Saturday, the firm said its mining team has developed “Bitcoin mining ASIC, BTC mining rig and related systems, software and infrastructure.”

According to the ad, the test center “will host Block’s mining hardware and will be used to test the hardware and software of the mining system and general operational issues (power, cooling, dust, rebooting, performance monitoring, connection to the pool).”

The firm is also recruiting product and engineering experts to “develop next-generation ASIC mining” and design “first mining rigs” and “future mining rig product lines.” There are also several positions related to wallet design.

Block introduced the Bitcoin hardware wallet last spring.

Block, formerly known as Square, Bitcoin, cryptocurrency and invested heavily in decentralized finance.

For example, Block’s decentralized finance unit TBD announced a stablecoin partnership with Circle earlier this month.

As for mining, Block’s chief hardware officer, Thomas Templeton, outlined the company’s BTC mining goals in January, as reported by CNBC:

“The common issues we hear about existing systems are heat dissipation and dust. They also become dysfunctional almost daily, requiring a time-consuming reboot.

We want to build something that really works. They’re also very loud, which makes them too noisy for home use.”
