Together with the Official Gazette published last night, the right to determine the human right to water, for which the Court of Accounts had previously stated that it was against the law, was officially given to the municipalities. İSKİ, which made this application before and had to cancel the application with the decision of the Court of Accounts, said that a change should be made in the law.
The Official Gazette, which was published last night and announced the new appointments and dismissals in the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Banking Regulation and Supervision Board, also included an important decision for the municipalities and the public. It was abolished in some municipalities, such as Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, on the grounds that it was against the law by the Court of Accounts. The human right to water is now legal.
With the decision published in the Official Gazette, the authorized decision bodies of the municipalities, with the decision taken, per household per month. not to exceed one-fifth (20%) of total use by setting an upper limit, they will be able to determine free or discounted water tariffs within the scope of the “human right to water”.
Municipalities will be able to officially present the human right to water
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, municipalities and their subsidiaries, in accordance with the relevant articles of the Municipal Law No. 5393, the Law No. 2464 on Municipal Revenues and the Law No. 2560 on the Establishment and Duties of the General Directorate of Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration. will be able to set tariffs.
Citizens who will benefit from the tariffs determined in this way will be exempt from the provision of the first paragraph of article 1 of the Law No. 4736 on Amending the Goods and Services Tariffs Produced by Public Institutions and Organizations and Some Laws.
