Grünheide The staff of the “Tesla-Gigafactory” in Grünheide can look forward to a significant salary increase. All production workers will get 6 percent more money from August. This was first confirmed by the US electric car manufacturer to the Tagesspiegel on Thursday – and is therefore official.
The plant for supplying the European market, which only started production at the end of March, is now the largest industrial employer in the capital region with 5,000 employees.
Managers get nothing
It is generally to be welcomed “when a company raises wages,” said Brandenburg’s Labor Minister Jörg Steinbach (SPD) in the Tagesspiegel. “Good work, and that includes attractive remuneration in particular, is the key factor in securing skilled workers. This applies to Tesla as well as to all other companies in the country.”
