Frankfurt Only a few hours after the start of new government funding for energy-saving new buildings at KfW, there is another application freeze. The website of the state development bank read on Wednesday that the subsidies for energy-efficient new buildings had been exhausted due to the enormously high demand. “Please do not submit any more applications.” A KfW spokesman confirmed this, according to the dpa news agency.

However, this step does not come as a complete surprise: at the beginning of April, when the federal government presented the future conditions for new construction funding, Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) warned that it was to be assumed “that the funds would be exhausted very quickly”. Because although the previous funding programs had been very popular, the federal government had initially made only one billion euros available for the new edition of the program.
