Ministry of Health to Start Working with YouTubers

While the rate of vaccination in Turkey is gradually decreasing, the delta variant, which has been found to be more contagious among young people, increases its effect. That’s why the Ministry of Health will start working with YouTubers to reach young people.

Those who have two doses of Sinovac vaccine and do not receive a third dose after new variants become available are at risk. According to the data shared by the Ministry of Health, there is a slowdown in the vaccination program of young people between the ages of 18-24. The effect of new variants on this is great.

40% of active cases in Turkey are under the age of 23. That’s why the Ministry of Health will start collaborating with YouTubers to reach young people. According to the news of Meltem Özgenç from Hürriyet, the ministry will carry out such a study in order to ensure that young people are vaccinated at their own will. However, the details of the project are not yet clear.

Vaccination rate in Turkey can be seen in the chart below:

In Turkey, 65% of the population received at least 1 dose and 57% received 2 doses. However, most of these vaccinations were administered in June, July and August, as seen in the chart above. However, since the first days of September, it is seen that there has been a serious decrease in the number of people newly vaccinated daily.

The delta variant targets young people who are more socially active and therefore at higher risk of transmission. For this reason, the step to be taken by the Ministry of Health seems logical on paper. However, content producers on YouTube can avoid restrictions against “vaccine, epidemic, covid-19, coronavirus” warnings within the platform. Time will show that.
