Minimum Wage Tax Statement from the Minister of Labor

Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, made a statement supporting the expectations that the minimum wage should not be taxed. Bilgin said that they are working on this.

About a week ago, Reuters reported that, based on two Turkish officials, the authorities were working on measures to protect low-income people due to the increasing inflation in Turkey. Among these considered measures, the minimum wage increase more than the inflation rate and tax deductions on wages including such measures.

Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, made statements supporting these efforts in his statement today. Answering the questions of journalists after the cabinet meeting, Bilgin said:We have a study on this. We examine alternative tax models. Legislation is enough for some, President’s decision is enough for others.” he said.

There is a minimum wage target:

Bilgin stated that they have a goal regarding the minimum wage and announced that the survey will be in their hands before December, and that the expectations of the public will be announced according to the results of the survey. And also age at retirement Referring to the issue, Bilgin explained that scope and cost studies were carried out within the ministry, and that the results would be shared with ministries, institutions and unions after the study was completed.
