Memory Limited sues Apple for alleged patent infringement

The Colombian government banned the sale of Apple products in recent weeks due to a lawsuit filed by Ericsson. Memory Limited said it was suing Apple for allegedly infringing on its patents.

Memory Limited: “Apple has infringed patents on its products.”

Patent infringement is known to be one of the most problematic issues for Apple and Google. Apple, whose products with 5G technologies were banned in Colombia in the past weeks, is facing a new lawsuit.

Apple is allegedly infringing on patents US6874014B2 and US6724241B1. The patent with the code US6874014B2 comes up with the title “Multi-core processor with more than one operating system” taken in 2005. US6724241B1 was purchased in 2004 with the title “Variable charging circuit with dynamic load”.

According to the details detected by Patently Apple, Apple’s iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, 5th generation iPad, all iPad Pro models and some MacBook models are affected by this violation. The technologies used in Apple’s A-series, M-series, and T-series chipsets violate the US6874014B2 patent. The patent coded US6724241B1 is stated to violate the SK Hynix NAND Flash technology.

Tech giants have been made obvious targets by some “patent trolls”. Even though there is no violation, companies sue large companies to gain unfair advantage.

Analysts state that the company called Memory Limited may also be a patent troll. It has been determined that the company has also filed patent lawsuits against companies such as Western Digital, Google, Samsung, LG and Lenovo since July 2021.
