Media Markt & Saturn deliver: is Sony’s Playstation 5 back? – Game news

Good news for everyone who ordered their Playstation 5 from Saturn and Mediamarkt: The two electronics chains are now slowly delivering their orders from September! But what does that mean for the other providers? Can I order the Playstation 5 again soon?

Was a warning effective?

Mediamarkt and Saturn are finally delivering. This is reported by the industry portal Gameswirtschaft, citing social media posts under the hashtag # WoBleibtMeinePS5.

Insiders suspect that the two electronics chains had taken on orders in September, but later did not want to cancel their customers’ orders, even though they could not deliver the goods despite payment. So it came to a warning from Saturn by consumer advocates (BILD reported).

But does the delivery mean that other dealers have also received quotas again? Apparently, new game consoles were delivered to Mediamarkt and Saturn. If you look at the websites of Sony’s specialist retail partners, nothing has happened there. The Playstation 5 is still out of stock.

Industry experts therefore expect that the deliveries from Mediamarkt and Saturn will be bad news for everyone who has not yet received a Playstation 5. In other countries, some of Sony’s premium partners (including Amazon and Gamestop) have already been able to deliver a few consoles – in Germany nothing has changed since the last order round in December. Sony has apparently delivered a large part of its January contingent to Mediamarkt and Saturn, the rest of the dealers went away empty-handed.

Replenishment only in February

In the meantime, one must assume that there will be a new round of orders in mid-February at the earliest. How many consoles will be available by then is unclear. What is certain, however, is that demand is likely to remain well above supply in February. The game console is still a long way from being normally available.
