London The British Confederation of Industry (CBI) is in dissolution. After new allegations of rape within the organization became known on Friday, numerous companies canceled their membership. The CBI then announced that it would stop its work until an extraordinary general meeting in June. The CBI has been the main voice of British industry to date.
The daily newspaper The Guardian reported on Friday that a CBI employee had been raped in one of the association’s foreign offices. Recently it became known that another employee at the London headquarters is said to have suffered a similar fate after a party. There are also reports of drug abuse, harassment and bullying. The association recently fired its CEO Tony Danker without notice for harassment of female employees. However, the former CBI boss has nothing to do with the rape allegations.
