24-year-old millionaire crypto hedge fund founder Rahul Rai bitcoinHe believes it is accelerating at an extraordinary rate.
Rai, who runs the BlockTower Gamma Point Market Neutral Fund, said he believes crypto will disrupt the entire traditional financial system.
Rai said in a recent interview, “Blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies are the foundations of a new financial infrastructure and will reshape major sectors of the global economy.”
“Crypto is just getting started and the rocket is in the growth phase.”
It’s not just cryptocurrencies that are accelerating in this space. For example, about half of the world’s central banks are on track to develop their own digital currencies. Assets locked into decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms such as immutable tokens have also grown in popularity. The market is worth nearly $100 billion, and everyone from celebrities to artists and sports stars is racing to support and publish the products of these unique digital collectors.
“It is absolutely mind-blowing. As much as I wish I could say I had the foresight, I couldn’t have imagined that this entire ecosystem would accelerate so quickly.”
Working on the foreign exchange hedge funds team at Morgan Stanley, Rai co-founded his own crypto hedge fund, Gamma Point Capital, with Sanat Rao and Eash Aggarwal in January this year. Five months later, Gamma Point Capital was sold to digital asset manager BlockTower Capital for $35 million. As mentioned above, Rai is currently the full-time managing partner of the BlockTower Gamma Point Market Neutral Fund.
With Bitcoin hitting over $50,000 this week, it has once again had a market cap of $1 trillion for the first time in months. Rai believes this is just the beginning of a bigger rally – he has broad prospects for cryptocurrencies and digital assets, not just Bitcoin.
Besides, Rai added that the growth in the ecosystem is a big part of his success.
“Being in a hyper-growth industry makes it much easier to build and scale quickly.”
