Many Devices Used in Bitcoin Mining Seized!

Recently, the Kosovo government decided to ban cryptocurrency mining in order to prevent power cuts due to increased energy consumption during the winter months.

After the ban on cryptocurrency mining in Kosovo, the police launched an operation against those who continue to illegally mine cryptocurrencies.

While 1 person was detained in the operation organized by the police, 272 ASICs used in Bitcoin mining were seized.

Kosovo Interior Minister Xhelal Sveçla made the following statements regarding the issue:

“The operation went smoothly. Operations will continue until the decision of the parliament and government is fully implemented.”

It was stated that the 1-month electricity consumption of the mining device confiscated by the authorities is equal to the amount of electricity consumed by 500 houses.

In the past months, the Iranian government has also announced that it has stopped crypto mining activities due to the increase in energy consumption during the cold winter months.

However, the Iranian government has softened the mining ban decision, stating that licensed cryptocurrency miners may be allowed under certain limitations and conditions.
