How to download macOS?

You can download the new Sonoma package via the Software Update feature or directly from the Mac App Store. However, we recommend that you use the Software Update feature as it shows whether your device is compatible or not.

  • Step 1: Follow Apple menu > System Settings.
  • Step 2: In the menu that opens, click General on the left and then click Software Update on the right.
  • Step 3: Software Update will only show the version that is compatible with Mac. You should see the Sonoma package here.

Do not put your device to sleep or turn it off while downloading or installing a software update. Also note that you may see a blank black screen a few times during installation.

The new macOS Sonoma introduces design changes such as visually striking screensavers and desktop widgets. It will also have a layering feature during screen sharing for video conferences.

It will include a new profile creation feature in Safari and the ability to add websites to the Dock. Private Browsing Mode will prevent tracking by data trackers. Messages app search filter, swipe reply, location sharing and autofill features will be available.

In addition, Mac devices will turn into gaming monsters. Game mode automatically prioritizes games by reducing your Mac’s CPU and GPU usage in background tasks. Extended Lock Mode will increase security against cyber attacks and will be available on all Apple devices.
