Frankfurt Luca Pesarini is relaxed. The fund manager with Italian roots had to answer for several years of poor returns with his mixed fund “Ethna-Aktiv-T”. “But today we look good compared to the competition; our result is reasonably reasonable,” says the eloquent 61-year-old.

The Pesarini fund lost only 2.8 percent in the past twelve months, while the competitors in the weak stock market environment almost all slumped in double digits, by an average of eleven percent. “The strategy places an emphasis on capital preservation, not trying to get the highest possible return,” said Detlef Glow, funds expert at financial data provider Refinitiv.
