Leipzig: Game Over for the gaming fair “DreamHack” – Leipzig

Leipzig – In January 2016, almost 1,100 gamers hosted Germany’s largest LAN party for the first time at the Neue Messe. After the end of “Gamescom” in 2008, Leipzig finally had another mega event for computer freaks. But now the “DreamHack” is also pulled the plug!

“Unfortunately this trip ends after six wonderful years, because the Swedish license holder DreamHack AB will not continue the contract with the Leipziger Messe”, announced the organizers. Thus there will be no further edition of DreamHack Leipzig under the direction of Leipziger Messe and Schenker Technologies / XMG.

The Leipziger Messe speaks of a success story. By 2020, DreamHack was able to attract a total of 23,300 visitors. At the end of the LAN party alone, 2000 players took part. Because of Corona, the gamer fair last January could only take place virtually.

“We would like to thank you all very much: the now huge DreamHack Leipzig community, their exhibitors and partners who have actively shaped, developed and, above all, enthusiastically celebrated the festival every year.”

But it shouldn’t be “Game Over” forever: “We promise you that we will do everything we can to bring gaming back into our halls. Hopefully we will gamble again in Leipzig soon! “
