Dusseldorf A year ago, in sunny Cannes at the big annual meeting of the real estate industry, Volker Wiegel and Manfred Tropper had an idea. Wiegel, CEO of the second largest German housing company LEG, and Tropper, head of the IT company Mantro, talked about one of the major challenges on the housing market: the hydraulic balancing of heating systems in apartment buildings.
This means the correct setting of the heating and radiators so that all apartments are heated evenly and not, as is often the case, the upper apartments do not get enough heat. The problem: So far, there have been mainly mechanical solutions for this. That means: A heating technician has to carry out the adjustment on each radiator individually. The process is very laborious, expensive and disruptive for tenants.
