Dusseldorf “Higher, faster further” – the credo of the fitness industry, long spoiled by success, got a crack with the corona pandemic. Many members did not want to or could no longer go to the studios because it was too tight for them or because they had closed. The decline in sales and membership is accelerating the structural change in the industry: the chains are expanding, the number of small studios is shrinking.

The small studios in particular had to accept severe bloodletting from the members, and a number of operators then threw in the towel and gave up.
