Lack of staff and long working hours – the risks are growing in air traffic

Frankfurt In Europe, as much is being flown again as before the pandemic – and the European Aviation Safety Authority (EASA) is concerned about air traffic safety because of the rapid recovery. According to a recently published “Safety information bulletin”, the high demand is being met by a shortage of operational and technical personnel as well as a lack of aircraft and spare parts. This could have consequences for the stability and security of operations.

Currently, the supervisors can not see any problems. But that could change with the ramp-up in the holiday season this summer. The EASA experts therefore call on those involved in the industry to pay more attention to the issue of safety.
