Dusseldorf Gerd Chrzanowski ordered a cultural revolution for the Schwarz Group. When he took office as boss six months ago, the group was a traditional retail group that was centrally managed with an iron fist. Now it should open up to new, digital ideas, and responsibility will be shared.

“We have been given the freedom and trust by Gerd Chrzanowski to work on new topics,” confirms Christian Müller, the group’s head of IT. And the former SAP manager Rolf Schumann, who is responsible for digitization at Schwarz, is enthusiastic: “Now we have a freedom that I don’t know from Dax companies.” The impulses come at the right time. Because the retail giant is weakening in its core business, as the annual figures now published show.
