Italy adopts strict corona rules for the entire world of work

The prime minister has enforced the strict 3G regulation in the workplace despite resistance in the coalition.

Rome Italy is the first country in Europe to introduce compulsory 3G proof throughout working life: From October 15, all workers and officials will have to prove whether they have been vaccinated, recovered or have been tested within the last 48 hours. Anyone who does not do this will be suspended from work.

In the private sector after just one day, in the public sector after five days. From the first day without proof there is no salary. But nobody can be fired.

The government wants the return to the office or factory to be as safe as possible. The new regulation even applies to craftsmen and freelancers, babysitters and housekeepers. “Things have to be done because they have to be done, even if this is unpopular.” On Tuesday, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi quoted the famous sentence of the late economist Beniamino Andreatta. Two days later, he followed up his words with deeds.
