Three young rocket companies from southern Germany deliver a remarkable race. All three want to send a rocket into space for the first time this year. The market research analysis shows: Although the biggest hype is around Isar Aerospace from Munich, the start-up is not ahead in all categories.

They all started in 2018 to build so-called “micro-launchers” – small launch vehicles that launch satellites into space. Three students from the Technical University in Munich joined forces at Isar Aerospace. Competitor Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) emerged from the aerospace group OHB. And Hyimpulse from Neuenstadt am Kocher in Baden-Württemberg is a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
