Dusseldorf Infrared heaters promise fast, reliable and targeted heat. Interest in the supposed alternative to classic heating is growing enormously these days in view of the high energy prices. “In times of rising gas prices, infrared heaters are one of the straws that everyone is reaching for,” says Reinhard Loch from the NRW consumer advice center.

Whether as a mirror, blackboard or behind an art print by Monet, van Gogh or Warhol: Infrared heaters seem to be easily and cleverly integrated into the home furnishings and promise targeted and therefore more economical heat for cold days.

Infrared heating: advantages and disadvantages at a glance

Most people will be familiar with the technology in the form of a towel faucet: it dries the fabric; the bathroom, on the other hand, only gets slightly warmer. Applications such as infrared heating above the workbench or the changing table show that the panels were never intended to heat an entire apartment or even a house.
