Phone manufacturers want to produce their own processors and not be dependent on other companies. There are many reasons for this request. These are the main reasons not to be affected by the stock situation of the other company, to avoid cost disputes, to produce their own platforms and to provide a better and optimized experience.
Faced with sanctions as a result of conflicts with the United States, Huawei’s access to some technologies has officially become impossible. For example, the partnership with TSMC in the production of Kirin processors has ended. Thereupon, the company had to make an agreement with the Chinese processor manufacturer SMIC. Unfortunately, contrary to expectations, flagship processors could not be produced due to the technological inadequacy of SMIC. Finally, Huawei, which produces its own processors, had to follow a different path this time. It looks like we won’t be able to see Kirin processors at least for a while because of all this.

Netherlands can help Huawei
This time, Huawei has set its eyes on Dutch ASML’s EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) technology. Although Chinese companies cannot access this technology due to the US embargo, access may be provided in the future within the scope of Dutch economic policy. In this way, Huawei can produce its own processor with 7nm and below architectures. If all goes well and Huawei and the Netherlands somehow agree on this technology, the company could bring Kirin processors back to life in the coming months.
