Cardano (ADA) One of its leading developers, Adam Dean, warned in a recent Twitter post that the blockchain testnet was “disastrously” rendered inoperable due to a recently discovered bug.
A “Very Critical” Bug Found in ADA Testnet
Release 1.35.2, which was expected to be used for the upcoming Vasil hard fork, contained a critical bug that was discovered as stake pool operators rushed to upgrade on the mainnet, which led to the creation of incompatible forks.
Although the vulnerability has been discovered, the testnet is still down as the majority of stake pool operators have upgraded their nodes to version 1.35.2 to simulate Vasil hard fork combiner activity.
Release 1.35.3, introduced earlier this week, cannot sync the actual chain yet and is currently being tested on two new testnets without any block history.
Many community members expressed their frustration with the technical glitches. “This is unacceptable for a blockchain that has built its reputation on the robustness of its research and technology,” said a Twitter user from the Cardano community.

Is Vasil’s Update Being Rushed in Cardano?
Dean also said that the notion that the new update was created in haste is little in his opinion.
The developer urged ADA company Input Output and its CEO, Charles Hoskinson, to deploy the tools needed for a disaster recovery plan.
The upgrade, originally scheduled for late June, has been delayed several times due to technical difficulties.
