Carola Gräfin von Schmettow: According to Handelsblatt information, prosecutors are investigating the former head of HSBC Germany.

Dusseldorf Ethics, decency, integrity: Carola Gräfin von Schmettow literally took the students at the Gerd Bucerius Law School in Hamburg to task at their graduation ceremony in 2018. Adhering to the regulations is not enough, warned the then CEO of HSBC Germany. Then she reported on an imprisoned acquaintance from the financial sector.

“A former colleague of mine from London, a nice guy, highly intelligent, very clean career with no known rule violations, father of four children, testified in court: I didn’t know that I was doing something wrong. Because it was normal market behavior,” said von Schmettow. “He is now serving his multi-year prison sentence in the United States.”
