Inflation in NRW rises above ten percent – highest rate since the early 1950s

Berlin Inflation in Germany probably increased massively in September. This is indicated by the first data from the federal states. In North Rhine-Westphalia, for example, annual inflation rose to 10.1 (August: 8.1) percent and thus to the highest level since the early 1950s, as reported by the State Statistical Office in Düsseldorf on Thursday. The main reason for this is that after the 9-euro ticket and the tank discount were no longer available, goods and services now cost significantly more on average than a year earlier.

In the most populous federal state, goods and services in the transport sector in particular increased in price from August to September (+9.6 percent). “The main price drivers were the so-called combined passenger transport services (+217.5 percent) due to the elimination of the 9-euro ticket and fuel prices (+11.7 percent, including petrol: +14.0 percent)”, the statisticians explained.
