Berlin Federal Family Minister Lisa Paus (Greens) is calling for targeted relief for families in view of the high inflation. “I already see an additional need for relief for families,” said Paus in an interview with the Handelsblatt. “Families suffer the most from rising food and energy prices. That is why they are also the first to need relief.”

According to Paus, the distribution of a third family bonus would be conceivable. “This is a possible measure,” said the minister. Such a one-time payment was distributed to families twice during the corona pandemic. It will also “inevitably be about tax exemptions, an increase in child benefit and higher standard rates” to be discussed.
