Berlin Ines who? Quite a few in the party wondered who Ines Claus was after the grand seigneur of the CDU, Volker Bouffier, proposed her as his successor in the federal party presidium.
And now that the party congress is over and the new chairman is Friedrich Merz, the lawyer actually belongs to the top power center of the federal party. The 44-year-old does not resist the term “whiz kid”.
At the end of 2018, she entered the Hessian state parliament for the Groß-Gerau district for the first time. Only a year later, at Bouffier’s request, she became the leader of the parliamentary group – making her the only woman in this office nationwide. “I am grateful for this development and accept it motivated.”
