Dusseldorf Max Viessmann, head of Germany’s largest heat pump manufacturer, sees a drastic upheaval in the German heating market – and is therefore selling most of his 106-year-old family business to the US group Carrier Global. In an interview with the Handelsblatt, he said: “We are convinced that the market for climate solutions will change radically. Industrial size will be an important success factor in the future.”
The background is the sale of Viessmann’s most important business area, which became known on Monday: The group is selling its so-called air conditioning division, including gas heating and heat pumps, to US competitor Carrier Global for around twelve billion euros.
