Metzingen After a surprisingly good course of business in the second quarter, the fashion group Hugo Boss has more confidence for the year as a whole. Against the background of the strong sales and earnings development, the outlook for the current financial year will be raised, the group announced on Wednesday evening.

An increase in group sales of 20 to 25 percent to a record level of 3.3 to 3.5 billion euros is now expected. An increase of 10 to 15 percent was previously forecast.

For earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), an increase of between 25 and 35 percent to 285 to 310 million euros is considered possible for 2022. An increase of 10 to 25 percent was previously expected here.

In the figures for the second quarter, the group clearly exceeded general market expectations, it said. Sales increased from April to June by 40 percent to 878 million euros. “This is the highest turnover that Hugo Boss has ever achieved in a second quarter,” the group said.

The operating profit (EBIT) reached 100 million euros (previous year: 42). This is primarily due to the strong growth in sales and a noticeable improvement in the gross margin.

Hugo Boss plans to present full second-quarter 2022 results on August 3.
