How wars affect the stock markets

Frankfurt The Russian invasion of Ukraine hit European stock markets hard on Thursday. The Dax had to accept heavy losses. But it’s not the first time that the financial markets have had to weather serious political crises and wars. And indeed, the US stock exchanges made up for their initial loss – Dow Jones and S&P 500 closed 0.3 and 1.5 percent respectively. The technology exchange Nasdaq even made a remarkable comeback from minus three to plus 3.3 percent. The Dax also went on a recovery course when it opened on Friday.
