How to land a well-paying job in the chip industry

Dusseldorf The goals for the European chip industry are ambitious: by 2030, the EU wants to more than double its global semiconductor market share, from nine to 20 percent. The problem: The industry lacks around 350,000 skilled workers, as the strategy consultancy PwC Strategy& recently warned in a study.

Where there is a will, there is not automatically the necessary personnel. 30,000 employees are being sought in the area alone for the chip factory that the Taiwanese group TSMC wants to build together with Bosch, Infineon and NXP in Dresden. And Intel, the chip giant from California, wants to create 3,000 new jobs at its planned location in Magdeburg.
