We see more and more electric cars in traffic every day. It is predicted that the market volume will grow up to 10 times, especially in 2023, with the vehicles of brands such as Tesla and Togg going on sale. In other words, there will be at least one electric car on every street in the very near future.

After the earthquakes at the beginning of February, many people said that electric cars in the region could be used as a power source. In fact, some manufacturers have shipped their models that they have not yet offered for sale to the region. So, how can we benefit from these vehicles in the camp, tent and disaster area?

First of all, let’s say that not all manufacturers directly support this feature for now. However, thanks to the apparatus developed by 3rd parties, it is possible to perform it even if there is no fabrication support in the vehicle. However, thanks to the features we will talk about below, models such as the Hyundai IONIQ 5 stand out.

First, the car comes with a special device that turns the charging port into a household outlet. In this way, as you can see in the video, it can easily operate the tea maker, heater, large size lighting and smart TV.

In addition, thanks to the software in the car, you can choose how much your battery can drop while transferring power. For example, if the closest station to the campsite is 50 km away, you can say that my charge should not drop below 20 percent, and when it reaches this level, you can fully charge and return within a few hours.

So how long is a one-time charge enough? The Hyundai IONIQ 5, which we tested in the video, has two different battery packs, 58 kW and 72.6 kW. Assuming you bought the large capacity package here, if you use it for 10-12 hours in the evening with the heater and light at the same time, the whole battery will be consumed in 1 week.

However, if you want to use the heater only at night and if you want it to stop automatically when it drops to a certain level, like 20 percent, as we mentioned, more than 10 days will be enough in this scenario.

Of course, let’s not forget that there are electric cars with a battery capacity of more than 100 kW. These vehicles can illuminate a tent for about 1 month with a fully charged battery. Therefore, we will see this type of usage much more frequently in the coming period.
