A home is age-appropriate if it meets the needs of older people and enables them to live as independently as possible within their own four walls, explains Dagmar Faltis. She is a real estate expert and member of the management board of Aroundhome, a marketplace for house projects. Accessibility, good lighting and sufficient space help above all. “Good accessibility to important rooms such as the bathroom or kitchen and stepless access to the home are also important,” she adds.
