Dusseldorf On Tuesday evening, the future Bayer boss appeared before the journalists at the Leverkusen headquarters for the first time. Bill Anderson wore a light blue jacket over his shirt, in trousers and sneakers the American looked casual and youthful despite his 56 years. His inaugural speech revealed what the new man at the helm wants to stand for – for a new management style and culture change in the group: “I’m impartial and open to any input,” he said.
Anderson knows the most pressing questions he needs to answer in order to lead Bayer into this successful future: Is he splitting up the company? Can he finally shed the burden of the US glyphosate lawsuits? The future CEO does not yet have any concrete answers. He’s only owned since April first to the Board of Management of Bayer, taking over as Chairman in June. His job with the group is clear, he said: “We all want to create the best possible future for Bayer.”
