The four big companies also completely dominate the extended Dax. But the division of the market looks different today – driven by the legally prescribed rotation.

Dusseldorf With the expansion of the Dax, which has been in effect since Monday, the balance of power of the auditors in the top stock exchange league has shifted significantly. PwC has caught up with long-time Dax market leader KPMG and wants to continue attacking. KPMG has already lost a lot and will have to hand over most of its mandates for auditing of the balance sheet in the next few years.

This is shown by an exclusive ranking of the auditors in the new Dax 40, which the Handelsblatt created on the basis of a survey. Overall, it can be seen that the “Big Four”, which also include EY and Deloitte, also completely dominate the expanded Dax. But the division of the market looks different today – driven by the legally prescribed rotation.

In 2016, KPMG checked 58 percent of the companies represented in the new Dax today, PwC came up with 21 percent and EY with 18 percent. The two Siemens divisions Healthineers and Siemens Energy, which were spun off later, are not taken into account here.
