The ever-expanding game world has become a completely different turning point for Steam in 2023. According to a new report published recently, Steam broke a new record for the number of games added to the store in the last 12 months.

Steam added 14,531 new games to the platform, approximately 2,000 more games than last year. This means that an average of more than 39 new games enter the platform every day.
This increase in game releases has been a steady trend for several years. The years 2010 and 2019 are the only exceptions to the steady increase in Steam’s total annual releases. Since 2014, there has been a significant upward trend, initially supported by the implementation of Greenlight and later Direct. These platforms have empowered developers, leading to an exponential increase in the number of games available on Steam.

What is particularly interesting is that there is no slowdown in the pace of game development. Even on the first day of 2024, 36 new games were released on the platform, approaching the daily average of the previous year. This achievement is particularly commendable considering the typical lull in activity in the period between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Of course, this situation does not apply to our country. Although globally, as we have seen, Steam holds the throne compared to other platforms, in our country, purchase rates have experienced a huge decline since the transition to the dollar.
