Car dealers benefit from the scarce supply

Dusseldorf Germany’s car dealers came through the crisis year 2022 surprisingly well. Rising vehicle prices and a growing workshop business have caused sales and earnings to rise significantly. In the passenger car business, the return on sales has almost doubled within a year.

The companies in the motor vehicle trade in the Federal Republic generated sales of around 185 billion euros last year, which corresponds to an increase of three percent compared to 2021. The return on sales in the passenger car business rose from 1.6 to 3.1 percent within a year. This information was provided on Wednesday by the Central Association of the German Motor Trade (ZDK), which brings together around 36,000 car dealers and workshops.
