How corona-tired families can go on cheap holidays

It’s snowing, logs are piled up in front of the fireplace, the crucifix is ​​hanging in the corner – and on the wooden wall it says: “Drink, die. You don’t drink, you die.” A week in the Allgäu for a rustic 73.50 euros. That’s what Julia pays for herself and her son for a spacious room this winter vacation.

The 43-year-old, who actually has a different name, heard about the “Corona family break” at the beginning of the year, a grant that is intended to help families affected by the pandemic to recover. In this way, Julia can go on holiday at non-profit holiday resorts throughout Germany at a reduced price. The program runs until the end of the year. A map of Germany with the participating institutions can be found on the website of the Ministry for Family Affairs. New ones are added regularly.
