How brewery boss Helmut Hörz wants to multiply sales

Today only a third of the amount of Warsteiner is brewed as it was in the mid-1990s. The family business wants to better utilize its breweries in the future – also with other beverages.

Warstein Warsteiner would have enough space for further growth: the huge premises of the brewery in the middle of the Sauerland stretch over 63 football pitches. But much less is brewed here today than in the past. In the mid-1990s, Warsteiner Pils was the most popular beer in Germany. Since then, the brewery has lost massive sales. “We ignored beer trends like light beer for a long time,” admits the new managing director Helmut Hörz.

He should help the family business in the ninth generation to regain its old strength. The retail manager and consumer goods expert has ambitious plans, even though beer consumption in Germany has been falling for years. He wants to multiply the sales and turnover of the group within ten years.
